Working on a video in Movie Studio 16; I use Win 10 on a Dell Inspiron 5577 by the way. Booted the software up and I get a notification that there's an update I should install. I go ahead and when the setup process is done, my system says it can't find the update. I ignore it and start editing.
After getting a decent amount of work done, I save one last time and decide to watch my project on the software to see how things are coming along. I stop playback to see if I need to correct something, then start playing the video from where I left off and the playback immediately freezes and the software crashes and shuts down. I open the software to see if I can fix anything. I'm greeted with a message asking if I would like to auto recover the project and I decline because I figured, since I saved the project numerous times while working on it, I can just open the file myself and I'll start back where I last saved; software then reminds me to use auto-save and manually save often.
When I open my video file, my timeline is completely blank and the file shows that the last time it was modified was the exact moment I restarted the software after it crashed. I can understand how this would be my fault by not choosing to auto recover the project, but it still annoys me that this issue happened at all. Is there a way to recovery my project without starting from scratch? Anyway I can prevent this from happening again?
Oh, and I was able to install the update after restarting the software.
