For #1, I have a lot of scripting information and several free script on my site. There's also a lot of script on the VASST site

For #2, I'm not sure what you're describing. As far as movements and positioning, anything you can do with Pan/Crop can be scripted.

As for your second question, there is a wonderful freeware tool called AVISynth that has plugins that can provide motion estimation vectors that can then be fed to another process. Along with cropping and "masking" (using rectangular boxes), you can limit what part of the video these plug-ins "see."

Two plugins that may do what you want are MVTools and Depan. Search in the doom9 AVISynth forum using these names as keywords and you will find what you want. MVTools is a little tricky to get working. Put the plugins in a separate folder from all your other AVISynth plugins.
