JVC GR-DV3000EA Digicam

Has anyone had any experience taking footage with this cam.? I'm thinking of buying one as it fairly cheap and the reviews say it's as close as I will get to a 3ccd without breaking the budget. Having a 520 horizontal resolution similar to 3ccd cams. I can pick this one up for $2500-00 AUS.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Having 520 lines resolution is pretty common on decent Mini-DV camorders. So, this one is nothing unusual. Don't know the exchange rate, so can't comment on price. You can buy the Sony DCR-TRV50 easily for $1200.00US, and that is a good buy.

I'm also in Aus and looking to buy a new cam. The GR-DV3000 is on my shortlist. Who is selling it for $2,500? Cheapest I've seen is $2,800.

It's a private sale, and is still fairly new. What other camera's do you have on your short list that you would recommend?.

I've decided to go with the Panasonic GX7 (Model is PV-DC352 in the US). I made a list of what is important to me and the items that really narrowed down the choices were:
1) External microphone input
2) NO bottom loading tape mechanism (since I do a lot of tripod work)
3) Analog pass-thru input

These three items narrowed the choice down to just a few camcorders. I liked the DV3000 but it has a bottom loading tape mech. Canon MVX2i also fits the bill but I don't like those upright type bodies. The 3-CCD models are over my budget so the only choice I really have is the GX7. Lucky for me that I also like the way it looks and feels.

Panasonic also have a promotion going where they'll throw in a Pyro3 DV editing kit which included a Firewire card (which I also need).

Picking it up tomorrow in fact.

If I were you I'd hold out for the new JVC - 500DU (I think it is). It's a new digital camera with 750 lines of resolution. That is a monster! Street price is $3,495 US. You can also add a streaming capibility to it for $1,300 and stream right out onto the net.

Proud new owner of a JVC GR-DV3000!!
Turns out that I can live with the bottom loading tape mech. A final comparison between the GX7 and the DV3000 at the store today revealed that the JVC was just a much better camera. The low light capbilities were excellent (compared to the Panasonic). The F1.2 lens is just superb, and that in combination with the larger 3.5 inch LCD clinched the deal.
Haven't had a chance to test it out properly however.
The software installed smoothly in XPpro. Took some photos 1600x1200 and 1280x960 and viewed them on the PC. So far so good.
Now I need to buy a IEEE 1394 card and I'm set.

Looking forward to editing in the DV world rather than MJPEG analog!

Great news Jike!, Let me know how you go with editing some footage and capturing using VV3.
I'm picking mine up next week, so it would be good to exchange some knowledge.
