I have the same camera and shot some (non-critical fortunately) footage earlier this year in mov format (I usually shoot in mp4) and have never been able to import it into Vegas.
All I can suggest is asking on the JVC GY-HM Series Camera Systems forum and see if anyone there has any suggestions.

Thanks.
I downloaded handbrake and converted the clips to H.264. That seems to work good without any noticable quality loss.

Glad you were able to find a solution. I'll have to give that a try myself.

Well I did just find a problem with the conversion...
The original footage was 24p but Vegas thinks the converted clips were shot at 120 frames per second. I don't know Handbrake too well so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I'm 99% sure that the .mov format that is available with the JVC brand is strictly a codec for FCP. Your other choice is the more commonly used XDcam ex format .mp4 which works natively with Vegas. I have had success with premier pro importing .mov files then rendering out to a Vegas friendly format. My suggestion would be to never shoot in the .mov in the future.

do NOT shoot .mov!
It is most definitely geared towards FCP.
You'll have to Transcode it to use in Vegas.
Shoot whatever other option you have on the camera and NOT .mov!
