JVC-HD100E in Vegas?

We just borrowed the JVC Australian demo HD100E for testing. This isn't the current shipping version(HD101E) but what they give out for appraisal. Shot footage on it and played back in LCD viewfinder. It said it was 25fps720P. When we tried to take in HDV 720/25P over firewire we couldn't get control of the camera.
We use 6.0d and have very beefy systems. We run decklink cards in the computers. Each time we connected the camera (turned the power on) the PC recognised a firewire device, but Vegas didn't. It would flash up a frame from the decklink card. We had set the project to HDV 720/25P, set Preview device to OHCI etc, did the same for Print device, and tried using both external and internal(as last resort) capture application.
Any one have any experience att getting the JVC to work? or same probs?
Cheers.

Well firstly to capture HDV into Vegas you need to use the Internal Capture, NOT VidCap.
However I believe the 25p from the HD100 is true 25p NOT 25PsF and Vegas cannot directly capture it. Cineform can do this I believe and once it's a CF DI then Vegas can cope with it. Of course if what I'm saying is correct you gotta buy the full blown CF tool for Vegas.

There may be a difference to the HD100 but at least using the JVC PD1 I can proper capture the true 25p footage of this camera. Like Bob said I must use the Internal HDV capture tool instead of VidCap.

You could be correct, I know there's one camera (and I'm pretty certain it's the JVC) that almost nothing can ingest. Maybe it's the 24p footage that's a problem.
Only reason I know is someone hired one to a crew and against good advice shot much footage with it (in the wrong mode) and then tried to address the problem of how to edit it.

Thanks for info. We did try internal capture many times.

Is anybody actually using Vegas capture to capture any format from the HD100 - 720/30p - 720/24p - 720/25p -576/50p- 480/60p etc

I do understand the HD connect will work but does it captuer timecode and can you make batch capture edl's so that you can go back and accurately recapture if necessary.

I have successfully captured several hours of footage from the JVC in various modes, but it's the standard HD100. I don't much know about the PAL versions.
