JVC HD24P in Vegas - it works!

Shot some HD100 footage in 24p mode, but I only have a borrowed HD1 to play/digitize the footage with. The HD1 can't play the 24p footage (as I expected) but... it does output it through the firewire. I know this because I had it hooked up via firewire to my XBR960 TV set, and the TV was able to play the 24p footage!

So, I tried capturing the footage using the JVC capture utility (Pixela HD Capture) that comes with the HD1 camera. I don't have Vegas 6 yet, so I don't have all the HDV updates; I only had this little capture utility to use. Well, sure enough, it worked -- the Pixela utility captured the files.

So I tried to view 'em in Vegas, wondering if that would work. Not only does the file play in Vegas, but the file properties list it as "23.976 fps". As in, it works exactly as it should. And this is Vegas 5, not Vegas 6!

JVC was telling us at the show today that CineForm works with the 24P mode, but that it'll likely be a few more months before other applications support it. Well, I can say that it works in Vegas today. Once again, Vegas rocks!
