Keep the "Bird" in the tree - can V4 do it?

This one has me stumped for the moment. I stitched together a panorama from three stills captured from a clip in V4. The plan is to use Pan/Crop to zoom in and pan around the panorama still. At some point panning stops and a circle, created in the upper track using solid media and a cookie cutter, enters the scene and like a bird flys to and lands in a tree. So far no problem! Now, I want to pan to another spot in the panorama, but I want the "bird" to stay in the tree so that both go off the screen together. Can this be done in V4? Can the "bird" be locked to a point in the track below? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Grizzly Ike

You can't really lock the bird event to the motion of the other tracks. However, you could apply track motion to the bird and with cafeful use of keyframes you can have it follow the other tracks as closely as you wish, even frame by frame if you want to take the time to set that many keyframes.

Hi Ike,

Here's a thought...

Your generated media can be created the same size as your background.

You might park the cursor at the point where the tricky pan takes place, and paste those KFs into the generated media pan/crop. THEN, place your dot in the right place using the cookie-cutter.

(Then you can set KFs in the media/cookie prior to that point to make the dot appear to move in.)

Now you have both elements with matching KFs (at the tricky point) that you can alter similarly, and the elements will appear to move together.

Addendum:

I misspoke, having forgotton that the cookie doesn't always move with pan/crop... if you are really using a dot, you might try the text generator, it will follow pan/crop KFs.
