When I am working on a video and I strike just the right combination of VSTs and video effects, I want to make some notes on what I did to achieve the working formula.
Is there any way in Vegas to store notes within a project? If not ~ how do you all keep your notes?
Oh YES!
Client has decided my voice is good enough. Horrible, horrible thing for someone to do to me.
On the other hand that doesn't mean you cannot use what I'm saying simply as notes. I have a lot of footage for this current project and most of it doesn't mean that much to me soooo...........
Get the client in, playout the footage while I watch it with the client and record what was said at the same time. No need to keep track of TC etc. I know what we're talking about.
> " I hate editing my own voice-doesn't everyone? "
Funnily enough, no - I always try and get clients to use my voice over, and I've now done thirty or more.
The great advantages are ... getting exactly the intonation I want, and then, when those inevitable late changes to the script happen, instead of having to chase down the "personality" who did the original and arranging a new recording session, I just pop into my "booth" with my Zoom H4 / Rode NT1A and do the new bits.
... and the great advantage of editing myself is that no-one needs to know about the fluff ups, stumbles and multiple takes - by the time it gets to the timeline, it's fine!
When I have done my own V/O I can tweak my voice in ways that makes it spring into life a bit more. My favourite is to ever so slightly increased the speed but retaining the pitch. I've found this imparts a necessary "attack" to my usual diatribic(?), London drawling.
Thanks for the reply, Peter. I'm using Vegas 8.0c. Limited User Account refers to Windows itself. I only run the default admin account when I'm installing software. I created a limited user account for day-to-day activities. Here's a link to a site with more info: http://nonadmin.editme.com/.

The way to get our VASST software working with a limited user account is to temporarily make the user an admin, install the software, then make them a limited user again. This is because our software installs for the individual and for some reason, limited user accounts cannot make folders under their own user /User/<account>/AppData folder. If you make them an administrator just for the install, all of the proper folders get created.
Hi Jonny, I tried this with Vegas 8.0b and the result was that the notepad is unavailable with either account. I've tried uninstalling and installing several times both from my original admin account and from my limited user account changed to admin. I get an uninstall error message: Error: could not find common component directory. I installed it in the default directory as suggested. I've used revo uninstaller to wipe the registry clean while uninstalling but can't get it to install - Vegas Edit - Extensions shows no extensions listed. Anything I can try short of completely reinstalling vegas?
Thanks for the clarification. Just after my last post I managed to get Note Pad installed in my limited user account (temporarily changed to admin and then put back). But now note pad is not available when I launch Vegas from my regular admin account. It's missing from the view - extension menu. Is there anyway to have it available with both accounts or will it only work with one.

Install it on both. The command extensions are installed under the user's account folder structure so you have to install it for each user that wants to use it.
