Key to step forward in Video Event FX window?

I was editing a video this weekend and I wanted to step forward in the Video Event FX window using thy keyboard so that I could use the mouse to make adjustments in the video view. I did not find a way to do this and instead I ended up using the mouse both to step forward on the timeline and to do the actual edits. This was very slow so I would like to know a better way.

Actually cursor left/right steps backward/forward one frame in the fx keyframe control window. But for this to happen the fx keyframe control window must have focus. In the moment you mouse-click elsewhere it loses focus.

As there are many places in the Vegas Pro GUI cursor left/right works for stepping backward/forward, it must be focus dependend.
