Keyboard Commands? Ctrl+Z?

Grazie wrote on 9/18/2009, 8:18 AM
Ermmm .. .

I know Ctrl+Z does "Undo", I use it a lot!

I was wanting to make use of another command and decided to use Ctrl+Z but this did NOT come up as being used for UNDO?

So I went ahead regardless. NOW Ctrl+Z does the NEW command and left UNDO? OOPS . . . . ?

Eh? Could some kind soul check this out for me?

TIA

Grazie

Grazie,

Does your Undo arrow in the toolbar still work and does Ctrl + Y work to Redo, Ctrl + C to Copy, Ctrl + X to delete and Ctrl + V to Paste? If they do it might suggest that somehow you've managed to allocate a new keyboard shortcut to Ctrl + Z. If this is the case you should be able to put it back to where you want through Options - Customize Keyboard.

Yes Richard, I was experimenting and wondered WHY when I DID Ctr+Z I got UNDOs but that within the KB preferences it wasn't mentioned?

But I have NOW forced CTR+Z to UNDO and that is now as it should.

Also I have now mapped my Contour Shuttle Pro to USE Gilles' Script - nice.

But this is STILL not auto and I think it should be!

Mysterious!

Ctrl + Z is a standard Undo command in Windows and its programmes such as Word. As I can't see the command in the Keyboard Shortcust list I wonder if it has been imported automatically into Vegas. It wouldn't prevent this combination being reassigned if that's what someone wanted.

For me Ctrl + Z has always worked OK since the beginning (but I always feel the need to touch wood when I say anything like that - don't want to tempt fate if I can help it!)

Is this Grazie wanting an Undo Play command?
I get around the lack of this using "M". Not very intuitive but it's the best solution I've found.
An Undo Cursor / PlayHead feature should be doable. At least one code editor I use has this kind of functionality. It doesn't work through Ctl+Z though, that remains reserved for undoing actions.
It'd probably involve a new undo buffer to track T/C values when Play was started and a new command/menu/shortcut to back track through previous playhead positions.

For me this would be a highly desirable feature. How do I 'vote' for this.

One thought did enter my head. A hardware box / edit controller could be possibly built to do this. Vegas outputs T/C through the MIDI port. Magic Box could record T/C when you hit the play button on the box and store the values in a buffer. I'm seeing a box with a bank of T/C displays with buttons next to them. Sure add some client impressing bling :)

Is this Grazie wanting an Undo Play command?

No Bob. I was wanting to ASSIGN a keystroke TO activate the place cursor at centre option given by Gilles. I was trying all options and when I struck on CTR+Z I noticed that, at least on my install+PC, it was NOT assigned which made me quizzical indeed, cos I rightly know that Ctr+Z should have been assigned to UNDO. And to prove this I invoked the Ctr+Z it indeed DID UNDO!

Nothing more nothing less.
