Keyboard redefining in Vegas 5

Is this the most unintuitive thing Sonic Foundry/Sony has ever come up with, or is it just me? Something that in other apps is so simple to use somehow seems such a mess here. Did the intern do the code for this part?!

Have been trying to work out if it's possible to redefine zoom in and zoom out (Arrow up and down), but can't seem to work it out, let alone how the rest of how the custom key thing works.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I can't agree with you more as I was trying to do the same thing. They should have a look at Nuendo's keyboard mapping feature as a template. Also, I don't think changing the zoom keys are possible.

Not being able to change Zoom is a big shame.. especially since it's the first thing some people will want to remap so as not to have the annoyance of track selection changing when wanting to zoom - and vice versa.

I suspect that the dual-functionality of the up/down arrow keys in the code is probably the very reason it wasn't made re-mappable! Maybe internally they're not treated as seperate functions.. but as just one whose action depends on the focus.

Other keystroke redefinition issues include:
* Having to press "shift" to clear what's already in the box
* Being able to add more the one item to the box but only the first works
* The very illogical process for changing an existing one
* Occasional crashes after importing/exporting

It's a great idea though but I hope it gets tidied up for 5b ;o)

Bump. I hope this mess of keyboard redefining is sorted in V6. Just seems such a mess as it is, very unintuitive.

I know Sony's cut n pasted the code into the other apps, but I'm just totally under-whelmed. How do you clear the boxes apart from by pressing 'shift'? This isn't documented AFAIK. And would still like a way to map the zoom keys.
