Keyboard shortcuts dont work

Jorge-Vegas wrote on 2/22/2025, 9:03 PM

I've customized and created keyboard shortcuts to run the tools I use the most out of the ones included in Vegas Pro 18. Also, the ones that did work suddenly stop working and everything goes back to the “default” state.

I make these adjustments from: Settings > Customize Keyboard > Here I look for the tool I want to assign a keyboard shortcut to and enter it in the section called “Shortcut”. I have even saved all my shortcuts in a file extension ".ini" which is loaded in Vegas with the name I assigned to it, this file containing my shortcuts is under the title "Keyboard Mapping".

Conclusion, I need all the shortcuts I assign to be saved, not just some, and I also need them not to be deleted unexpectedly at the same time that my ".ini" file stops working and I can open it as a "txt" file and see that all my shortcuts are there but they do not work in Vegas.

Thank you very much!"

What "category" are you entering it under? Perhaps you're using the wrong category?

Copy your preferred <.ini> file to "C:\Users\--user name--\AppData\Roaming\VEGAS Pro\22.0"
and simply name it 'keyboard.ini' . This is the file Vegas uses as the default. I have edited the 'keyboard' file code more than a few times and if I make a code error, it will revert the 'keyboard.ini' file back to the factory default code.

The problem occurs with any “.ini” file I use, even with “keyboard.ini”.

What I have not been able to solve is that there are keyboard shortcuts that, even if I delete them, continue working anyway.

As for example it happens with the default shortcut “Ctrl+Shift+V”, which pastes the events copied from the clipboard at the same time that it moves the events that are in the destination place. I have deleted this shortcut and it no longer appears in the menu, but it still works normally, although I have also deleted other default shortcuts and they do stop working completely.

On the other hand, I have problems to save my changes in the shortcuts:

I am using a configuration of mine called "CustomKey" (which weighs about 14Kb) which works fine since some time ago, but if I modify/delete some keyboard shortcut and try to save the changes I have problems.

I tried to use the "Save As" option and overwrite my current "CustomKey" file but it does not save the changes, I also tried to save it with another name, for which, after clicking on "Save As" and typing the name, a new ".ini" file was generated but it weighs 1Kb and it only has three lines and all the modifications I made are lost.

Hi!

I have been careful to be modifying the correct category, but the problems persist and I don't think they have to do with these categories because I understand them very well.

In my other reply to "rraud" I explained the problem better.

See if this keyboard code will work,
Copy the below text and paste it to notepad <.txt> file and save . Change the file name and extension to keyboard.ini and copy it to the aforementioned Appdata folder.

[SfKeyMap]
Name=[Default]
[Global]
View.Mixer=Alt+Space
Options.Preferences=Alt+P
Options.QuantizeToFrames=Alt+Q
View.Video Preview=Ctrl+LWin;F4
Mixer.Dim=Ctrl+F4
VideoPreview.ExternalMonitorToggle=F5;F10
Null.0=Alt+3
Null.1=Ctrl+Shift+F12
[TrackView]
TrackView.Nudge.Up=Ctrl+Alt+Up
TrackView.Nudge.Down=Ctrl+Alt+Down
Transport.Play=Ctrl+VK_191
Null.0=F5
[Trimmer]
Null.0=Ctrl+P
