Hi there,
I could be wrong, but I don't think unused track plug-ins drain system resources in any way....if that's your concern...

First of all unused plugins will drain system resources even though they are not enabled. This might not be true for the Sonic Foundry track optimized FX's, the SF guys can let you know for sure on this one. The best solution as of V2.0 is to make 1 track and then edit it and remove all plugins, then just right click on the track and do a "duplicate track".

What I usually do is create multiple Vegas projects that have a preferred setup of where I like to start from, and I just open that project. This way I have all my most common plugins and buss routings and track faders and inputs all ready to go when I start, then I just need to hit record or add media from explorer.

Yeah I've been wondering why every track seems to default to an enabled 4-band EQ with 0 gain.

SF?

More importantly...WHY does a noise gate show ip by default...Isn't removing noise in a track one of the MAIN purposes of a digital editor?

SF really needs to implement a template functionality in V3...Not only for plugin defaults but desktop layouts, toolbars, etc.

This to allow for quick setups for differing purposes [tracking vs. mixing vs. editing] and multiple users.

I pretty sure this has been addressed in V3 :-)

So you're all saying that track effects, even when unchecked, drain system resources?

I don't believe it!

It doesn't make any sense. Why provide an uncheck box?

If I can hear a credible reason why this is so, I'll stand corrected....

Thx

Ive been begging for a template for FOREVER ...Especially one with input routing remembered as this is a pain to set up everytime, but I dont think SF understands the need :(
