Lack of pan/crop on output

I'm still using V4.
When I want to convert a 4:3 project into 16:9, I either have to render it all to an avi file and then apply crop to 16:9 or (very laborious) crop each event to 16:9.
I see that there is a fx button to apply fx to the output, but very surprised that there is no pan/crop for the output.
Is there some technical reason for this as it does seem a very useful thing to have.

Hi Mel. You can render out to a 16:9 format using the Widescreen DV preset. Is this not what you are looking for?

Hi Richard,
The ws preset will only make the pict 16:9. I still need to crop the 4:3 vid to stretch it vertically.
I shoot in 4:3 and edit in same. Just that sometimes I need to produce a cropped vid (16:9 from 4:3). If 'crop/pan' was an output function then it would be very easy.

Mel,

You can use VASST Celluloid for Vegas 4 to do this in one click. It will convert your entire project from 4:3 to 16:9 Widescreen (video, titles, everything). You can even apply film looks or convert to 24p or 30p. There is a fully functional 7-day trail version which will accomplish this for you now, and if you find it a useful tool, you can purchase it for use beyond the 7-days.
