I'm hoping someone does a rocker design with progressive action.
Note that neither of these does focus or iris, for those it looks like we'll need bolt on gears / motors.
Welcome to the Pro world where it's assumed money is no problem.

Thanks for the link, Laurence!

I knew there was a lanc to 8 pin converter but nice to see the actual 8-pin in a controller now. Still about $100 cheaper than the 8 / 12 pin bayonet options.

Bob,

Pro lens demands pro controls - Although I haven't used one, I can't imagine using a zoom controller with built in focus for an HD lens. For that type of dialing in, I'll take the studio model.. zoom on the right, focus on the left :)

Actually iris and focus are taken care of.
In auto.

Just kidding.

OK, I'll be the one to admit it: I use auto modes pretty regularly. (ducking and covering)

Why duck for cover. You job is to get the shot, how you get it is irrelevant.
The EX1 seems to have a lot of tweaks to its auto functions as well as some good tools to assist shooting in full manual. Use whatever you need to. I don't shoot a lot of footage so outside of the few set pieces I've shot I go for auto mostly, I'll tweak the auto settings for a better response. Shooting some stuff is traumatic enough unless you've got a lot of experience. Sure sometimes the auto systems aren't as good as a fulltime cameraman can do but they sure beat some of the stuff ups I've had and not all of them my fault either. Even in manual things can be wrong, like backfocus.
