laptop help please

Hi - I'm wondering if anybody is editing on a laptop using Sony Vegas Pro 8. I'm currently on a desk top system that is less than a year old and I just moved up to Vegas Pro 8 in May - ditched Adobe when I needed to start doing work in HD. I have an external blu-ray burner but it would be nice if the machine had a blu-ray player built in. not a deal breaker. Mostly I guess I want to make sure it has the guts to handle any upgrades to Vegas Pro coming down the pipe in the next 6 months or so. Thanks for your help - and sorry if this question has already been asked - I'm new to the group.

Yup...no problem here with my HP and Vegas 8.0. Just sure you have at least 2MB of memory on-board.

I'm running XP Pro.

Best Regards

There's a 64-bit version coming out this month (Sep), which I think will be a free upgrade for VP8 users. Sounds like Sony will release 32 & 64-bit versions in parallel for awhile. If you want to be able to take advantage of the 64-bit version you'll need the right OS, the 64-bit version of Vista or XP. For speculation on what may or may not be in the new release or what may or may not be advantages of 64-bits you'll have to search on "Vegas 9" or "64-bit".

much thanks for the help - guess when I go to make the big purchase of a laptop I should make sure to ask for the 64 bit version of vista instead of the 32 version that seems to be standard...
