Hi

Can anyone help me, i have edited a 19GB files in Vegas pro 22, used split as it is a two part of a 2h 50min show, i deleted the First part, then moved the second part to the start of the timeline and saved the files with a new name with Vegas pro 22 suite. The problem is that the original file of 19gb, is still there although it is not showing, having saved it in Vegas it still keeps the first 19gb file instead of reducing it. What am I doning wrong, it seem to be going around in circles.everytime i render it, it is duplicating the audio over its self and keeping the 19gb file, how do it split this project into two file using Vegas please help, i look in the media tab it is still showing the first 19gb file although its removed it from the timeline, plus its duplicating the audio?

How do to ensure that part one and two are on to sperate file in MP4 format, So I can edit each section in Vegas then Render it and part one using DVD Archritect, Or is it Better to use Magix Movie 2025 Suite which I also have. HELP I am going nuts. and using a lot of disk space.

Regards

Ray

Vegas cannot „reduce“ you original file. It is a non- destructive editor, keeping the original files untouched. Only the events in the timeline are shortened.

In a sense it's a non issue. Render out the two reduced sizes within VP to whatever you wish to. If you really want two smaller original input files split from the original then there are basically two methods.

Use an external to VP util to split the original into 2 halves. Then u have 3 files for input.

Render out two seperate pieces from within VP using say a lossless code.

But it's really unnecessary.

@Ivor-Williams NO video editor should ever change a source file. As was mentioned, you can render out smaller portions to new files and use those instead of the original file. But the original file should never be "modified" by any NLE - VEGAS or Movie Studio 2025.
