Latest build of Vegas text generator crashes

With the latest build of Vegas (521), at this point I only really get crashes when I try to use the text generator. I was working on a project and got no crashes all day until I tried using the text generator. On this particular project I had about eight layers of text in order to let me animate each layer slightly differently. It seemed like every time I touched a text layer Vegas would crash. The more layers I added, the less stable it would become. With just a couple of layers, Vegas would crash and if I restarted Vegas it would immediately crash when I started touching the text layers. A reboot would let me work for a few minutes longer. Once I got about six layers of text deep, even a reboot wouldn't help and I ended up cutting and pasting the project into V10 and redoing the text since the V10 text generators are different. Up until I started adding the text layers, everything had been working quite well. I had gone a good four hours plus without a hiccup.

Vegas Pro 11 comes with 5 different text generators. Which one are you referring to?

Unfortunately, I had the same experience, and the more VFX plugins I started testing out, the more crashes I uncovered. I suspect if all of us tested every plugin, especially stacking 2 plugins onto a single clip, we would find more problems. That has been my experience this past week when I initially though I might have dodged the problems I have been reading about in the forum. Back to Vegas 10e for me - it still works fine (luckily...)

I'm talking about the default one that comes up when you insert text. The one that has been changed since V10 so that you no longer can input a simple RGB legal value of 235,235,235 for your whites and 16,16,16 for your blacks.

Is there a way to call up the old text generator in V11? I would love to do that if it's possible.

Why not try (Legacy) Text??
Looks just the way it did in VP10...

Thanks Tom. I found it now. Instead of "Insert Text", I go to "Insert Generated Media" then select "Legacy Text". Yes, that's much better. :-)

Wow! Didn't expect that. Simple, static, white text on a black background crashes Vegas Pro 11 - build 595 64-bit.

I typically create titles in Photoshop Extended for that very reason. But I wanted so badly for Sony to have improved on this very problem that has been plaguing the software for many versions.

Editing sound and video is smooth going. Create tiles and down goes the ship. "To the lifeboats! Women and children first!"

By the way, don't try debugging the problem. It's impossible to end the task (shutdown the app).

The FREE title generator - Blue (something) absolutely BLOWS (up my computer)
