Latest Mutt Vid

Just about everything was done in Vegas aside from the few effect shots at the end which were done in Particle Illusion. Most of it was shot on Sept 28th with two xl1s' and one xl1. The burning pictures were shot in my back yard a few days later. Had the premiere for the band tonight and it went over pretty well.

As always, would love your feedback and hope ya like it.

MUTTS!!! WOW! . ..

Wow .. hanging photos burning up . . great concept .. you've made it work very well.

Timing is great.

My type of muzicK anyways . .. Loved the colour standards. Flame over film? How? Again really love the photos as real movie stuff ... Finale terrrific!

Ok:

1/- Some of the shots would have been better on a tripod ..

2/- Some of the "symbol" crashes could have been tighter with the change of video.

I've still got masses to learn . . but I really appreciate this one Mutts!

Nicely shot and edited. I loved the picture frame on fire effects although think that they were perhaps just slightly over used in the end. The flame over the video was a very nice touch.

Very good video.

Holy smoke Batman, that was really good! I'm not at all into country flavored music but that video made me enjoy it fully. Congrats on a really good job.

I loved the pace, slowly escalating the editing tempo and fire to a full "flames everywhere" at the end. The pyro worked surprisingly well. One of my favourite shots/edits is the tilt from the band up into dark heaven which then keep on moving up to the band again. Starts @ 00:47

How much did it all cost and how many peolpe were involved?

Picky details for your next project: Consider a steadycam for the movements, a make-up artist to get better skin on the people and some motion tracking software to better "lock" video into burning photo frames.

Those things, and shooting on video instead of film are really the only things that differs from a "real", pro, million dollar production.

Mutt,
I'm NOT a country music fan either but I thought it was great!
My only suggestion, I would have used Duraflame Logs for all the pretty colors !
No seriously, I liked it just the way it is...I disagree with the steadycam comments personaly , the whole concept of the "going down in flames"
and the setting made me feel as if I were there, trying to keep watching the band and getting around the flames myself. the handheld shots and your editing pace kept that feel real for me.
Heck I should have brought marshmellows!!
Great Job ,CMT material if you ask me.

SWEEEEET!
Nice ideas in there AND those guys rock! (country fan here)
I'm torn over the steadycam suggestion. For a music video I kinda like the "shaky" look. Maybe the pans of the burning pictures would've benefited but again, with a music video, anything goes.
My favorite was the pan from the band to the moon to the band again. Nice touch!

Thanks all ! Great feedback and advice. Would have loved a Steadicam but wasn't in the budget. Though even if there were a Steadicam I would have done some handheld anyway.

I'd rather not post what it was done for as it was quite a bit less than it should have been and I think the pro's of the world would kick my ass. Plus would set a bad precedent for any possible future clientele if they were ever to see this, however unlikely this is. If your really curious, cut me an email. =)

We had three camera people, two guys lighting the drums on fire ( had to relight every take as we were using kerosene and diesel to get high and good looking flame and it would die in about two mins.), and two guys doing the explosions. One guy did get 2nd degree burns lighting the drums so I guess we started with 8 people, ended with 7. ( He's okay btw ) That's about it, had a whole buncha people watching though.

Brandond's publicist is going to be trying to get it on CMT and GAC, cross your fingers. Don't think she has any " in's " yet, but we're all hoping she finds one !

Thanks again !

Here's my bit to make you feel better, Looks graet mate. The video doesn't distract from the song which is a pleasant change. Given budget what more could one ask for and would a bigger budget have been appropriate for C&W anyways. I did kind of feel the PI stuff didn't quite connect with the real fire, maybe just watching with so much compression caused the timing to be slightly out. Leave it for a week and have another look at it, see if you see what I mean. Sort of like big fireball comes out of the sky, (thanks to Hollywood) we expect big bang on the ground!

Great song, great performance, great effects, and of course, fantastic directing and editing. Doesn't really need to be any better than this one. Great work....gonna watch it a third time now....
