Latest supported DVD burners?

Has anyone successfully used any of the latest Sony DVD burners with this suite of products? Is there an official list of supported burners? I want to buy an external Sony Burner with both firewire and USB2 interfaces, and move it between multiple computers (using both of those interfaces with XP Pro, Server 2003 and Mac OSX machines). Has anyone done this with the Sony DRX-700UL, or the 8X burner (whatever part number it is)?

I think there has been some issues with the 700 which will be fixed shortly. However all DVD burners come with some sort of program which will work so you can just prepare in DVDA and then burn from that folder using whatever came with the drive.
I know someone with 2 Macs whose had the same problem with DVD Studio Pro burning glass masters, same answer, burn with Toast.
Dual Layer support though is another can of worms.
