LAUNCHING APPLICATION PROBLEMS

I am running Vegas Video 6.0 and also Acid Music Studio 6.0

I used to run an M-audio Dio2448 pci sound card on my system...I have removed that card/drivers/etc and satrted using a Tascam usb adio interface (works fine/no problems with that)......The problems Im having is now whenever I launch either program (Vegas OR Acid) I get a 'prompt' that says "Dio2448 Audio Drivers" and I have to right click and hit 'close' in order for the programs to finish opening....Then anytime recording (dubding) audio on either program, playback slows down (pitch) during recording, but plays back fine during regular playback (after the record button is turned off) and also sometimes just shuts down the computer when trying to record audio (video works flawlessly).....I have checked and double checked, the old pci card is removed and the drivers are de-installed too as far as I know......why is this error/prompt still popping back up about the dio 2448 drivers....This only happens on Sony media Software applications (vegas and acid) no other audio applications on my computer has these problems....I am clueless as what to do now...ASIO driver problem??? Please Help!

Well, somehow Sony still sees some reference to your old device. What is your chosen audio device and driver in each app?
Some may suggest poking around in your registry to delete old references to your old hardware. Some may suggest reinstalling the software.

I responded in the ACID forum to your issue:

Here is that response:

This sounds like the DIO ASIO drivers were not properly uninstalled and still remain in the registry. Because of this ACID/Vegas attempt to determine if they are legal to use. The driver probably then loads, can't find its hardware, and yells.

While ACID/Vegas is NOT running:

- Run Regedit
- Locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

- Look for an entry that is labled to indicate it is for the DIO card.
- When you locate it, delete that entry completely.

Resart ACID/Vegas and the message should go away.
