layouts! what am I doing wrong?!

I'm having trouble saving the window layouts.
I press the ctrl+alt+D and I was able to save one in the 1 position but if I change the layout then try to set 2, 3 etc I notice when I press the three keys simultaniuosly the cursor tool changes to the envelope selection tool or the event selection tool, and when I recall the layout its still the default.
Am I missing somthing stupid?

Are you using your 10 key or the numbers at the top of your keyboard? 10Key won't save/function....that's an editing tool.

CTRL+ALT+D, let go, then press number.
to recall:
ALT+D, let go, then press desired number.

yep thats what I'm doing, and just using the numbers above not the num pad.

its works on a ps2 keyboard here but not on a usb keyboard .. go figure

I couldn't remember the key strokes for saving window layouts, so I searched and found this old thread.

I wanted to let you know that it works for me using a USB keyboard plugged into a PS2 port using a $2 (US) adapter.
