... LCD monitors ...analog vs dvi connections

... big hassle locally to get dvi input for these LCD monitors... most come with vga/analog jacks... so, the question is: is the view that much better with dvi inputs...? ...is it better enough to go through the extra bucks and time to search one out...? ... any advice is appreciated... TIA...

I find the DVI view to be superior to analog. I would only run an LCD in analog if I had no other choice. On the other hand, I have talked to people who have nearly perfect vision who get along fine with LCD in analog.

The higher the resolution the more DVI comes into play. At 1600 x 1200 on a 20 inch, or higher LCD you would not want analog. I know of which I speak with a DELL 20.1 inch UltraSharp LCD on a ATI Radeon 9700 PRO. This LCD has the capability to go both digital, or analog at 1600 x 1200. DVI is incredible while analog is only so so!

In theory, DVI is the better choice for LCD monitors.... However, I don't know anyone, with a 17" LCD monitor, who will say that it makes any difference. I believe I read something in one of the computer magazines that, essentially, said the same thing.
