lcd stutter?

my eyes love my new lcd, but my brain is trying to understand why:

a. it's display stutters when maximised in the capture / playback window (doesn't with my crt)

b. awful moire in the preview wind (under best setting)

obviously, vv captures fine either way, and records fine.

have i lost my smooth interlace to an lcd display?

leslie

ps. only have a 64mb display card - would a 128 help?

Given that a frame is only written every 40ms in PAL and a bit faster in NTSC, I'm wondering just how much difference it all makes anyway.

yes they do as a lcd displays non interlaced only, some of the better ones compensate for this - but most don't , most of the better playback software will de-interlace - but in a preview window you are sunk ..

yes -- almost all of them do this banding ......looks bad ..

oh well, at least i do my serious monitoring on my sony monitor.

and there i was thinking i'd be taking a step ahead instead of one sideways, and slightly backwards.

still, it really is less of a strain on the eyes.....

thanks one and all,

lag isn't the only problem with an lcd... try setting black level correctly, as if you would use it for photography editing... i can't get a full black on my laptop lcd, and it's top of the line.
