From what I've seen you can tell it to animate, tell it when to start animating, and then it just takes it from there. It looks like it loops about 20 seconds of the video or so.

You change the MENU loop time. All buttons on that one menu will loop for that length of time.

Yeah....and here is another something to think about.

Okay...so I created a one minute loop to play as a thumbnail.

Then, I created a one minute and two second audio clip to loop for that menu page.

Stupid me!!!

The thumbnail animation ended and started looping again while the song was still playing....for like TWO SECONDS!!!

Then....TWO SECONDS LATER....everything started allllllll over again.

It took me a minute (or TWO) to figure this one out. So......long story shorter - I just ended up making the thumbnail one minute and FIVE seconds (cause I think I had a second pause before and after the music...which means the whole music clip is something like one minute and four second).....

This way...the entire clip I want plays....and then some....and then just nicely starts over with the music.

Neat huh?

Well....I'm pattin myself on the back!!

Actually... if you animate thumbnails they will by default play the same length of any background audio you drop on the menu page if you check loop and auto caculate. What I use to advantage. I've made a much of MP3 sound tracks varying in length from 20 seconds to a minute or so with a few seconds added silence at the end. These are idea for menu loops. They take very little space on the DVD and if you want each sub menu page can play its own tune in addition to the main menu page having a different one. Simply drop a large audio file on the VEGAS timeline, then render just the section you want looped, adding a few seconds silence. Once you click the thumbnail it will loop the song over and over.

As far as selecting WHAT portion of the vid to loop, use the slider control (thumbnail start time on the object tab once you click on a thumbnail. This way if you have a background audio loop of 40 seconds, any continous 40 seconds of the vid will also loop.
