lens flare and keyframes

i would like to add the lens flare effect and have the light start in the center and spiral outward as the video progresses. to do this with keyframes and to make it look smooth, might be imposible. it will take hundreds of them. is there another way to make the light follow a spiral path?

Put the effect on a parent track and then spiral the effect using pan/crop.

can you describe this in more detail. i feel the same problem will arise when going to pan/crop----too many keyframes will be needed, no?

I think what he means, is to create the lens flare on one track and use the keyframes to move it to the right or left. On the track menu, rotate the "window" using a pair keyframes. This would cause the flare to spiral out.

He may have another method in mind...
