Well, sometimes yer learns something new .. .each day . .

I had to very carefully "edit" my final final FINAL draft for my client .. he sayd, "Er . .maybe we shouldn't have . . . in the film ". . Okay, I say . .no problem .. He WOULD pick a mass of dissolves and stuff fyling about the screen - -arrrghhhh . .!

Well, I created a new itsy bitsy 4 second thingie, put it on the track above the "offending" section, selected it and used the 4 and 6 on the keypad to "creep" it backwards and forwards. Hmmm.. I think that's not good enough I can't actually "see" through track one and see where the new track should stop and start. No problem .. I reduced the opacity of track one so I could then see through it and exactly marry up the two tracks. DONE! . . and all because I could use the 4 and 6 keypad keys . .YEAH!

Thank You and Goodnite!

Grazie,

Note that the amount of movement you get with the 4 and 6 keys depends on how much you are zoomed in on the timeline. To move a frame at a time, use the 1 and 3 keys.

If you really want to zoom in, click on the timeline, then hit your up arrow 4 or 5 times or more. If you're zoomed in enough the four directional keys left of the keypad keys all can work together. The top arrow zooms in, the bottom one zooms out, left back a single frame, right forward a single frame.

At least on my keyboard the arrow keys update the frame counter readout under the preview window WITHOUT needing to hold down the Shift key. The 4 and 6 key don't change the frame count unless you do hold the Shift key down.

On my latest version (Vegas 5) I see no difference between the movement of the 4 and 6 keypad and the 1 and 3 keypad.
I used to be able to move a smaller increment when zoomed way in than I can now - this was in Vegas 3.
Is ther something in Preferences that would allow me to set a nudge amount?

Thanks
