Lots of ways to do this. You can just add a matt... that is very easy.. you could just add two tracks with solid black genrated media and position using track-motion. You can also select the 16:9 present in the pan/crop settings for the events.

Thanks Liam...good to know there is a way...problem is, not too experienced ...what is track motion??? and when you say to lay 2 tracks do you mean 2 video tracks or overlays?...sorry, it's just a little above me and I'm not to up on the lingo...

Your gonna have to take the clues and run with them... just a little bit anyway. A search in the help file on "track Motion" will tell you a lot of what you need to know.

It sounds like you haven't yet got the concept of mulltiple video tracks in Vegas.. this is a basic and fundamental thing in Vegas. Multiple video tracks are the <same> as overlays. When you insert a new track of video anything you place on that track will take priority over any video tracks below it.

To help you get from where you are... to where you need/want to be.. I would recommend you start going through a number of tutorials that are available. Many of these tutorials were created by people you see posting on this site.

The following page has links to many tutorials and other resources you will find helpful.

In particular the Newsletters by Edward Troxel (JetDV)

and the Sony video seminar on Vegas 5 captured by the SCVUG at last years NAB show.
