License for DVD Architect 7.

Dave-Roberts wrote on 6/19/2021, 8:09 AM

I have a license for DVD Architect 6, but the software wont install on my new machine. I have downloaded DVD Architect 7 and runs fine, but need a license code as it doesn't accept my original one for DVDA6. I cannot for the life of me find anywhere that I can submit a polite request for a DVDA7 license. Anyone had success with this?

Many thanks.

Dave

DVDA 6 was released by Sony and DVDA 7 was released by MAGIX - they are different versions with different licences. Having a licence to DVDA 6 does not give you a licence to DVDA 7. DVDA can no longer be bought at all via MAGIX - it is a discontinued product. The exception might be if you buy an older version of Vegas Pro from an authorised Vegas Pro reseller. Unfortunately, the recent VP16 Humble Bundle sale for VP16 at an amazingly low price has now ended. But if you do choose to buy via a reseller, make sure that DVDA is included.

With your DVDA 6 installation problem, you may need to send a support request to MAGIX via the Support link at the top of this forum. BTW, DVDA 7 lacks the AC3-Pro render template that is in DVDA 6 - so the latter is the better version if you need professional AC3 encoding.

Ah, that makes sense now. Been using DVDA6 for years and always got on well with it, but PC broke itself the other day hence reinstalling. I will preserve with sorting the failure message.

Many thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

@Dave-Roberts ... I'll take a wild guess that the installation problem relates to NET Framework 3.5 (and earlier). I recently had this problem when reinstalling DVDA 6 after a rebuild of Windows 10. Go to Apps and Features and select from the far top LH corner of the window, Programs and Features. Then select Turn Windows Features On and Off. The first entry in the window that opens is 'NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)'. It will probably be unchecked. Check it (as well as the sub-entries) and NET Framework should then auto install. DVD 6 should then install without a problem. At least it did for me.

The only problem that could then arise is if you have registered DVDA 6 too many times over the years and it won't register now. If that happens, you'll need to contact MAGIX support and request the registrations be reset back to zero.

Yes it does!! You saved me my next job, so thanks a lot Dexon. I will give that a shot, then contact MAGIX to reset their end hopefully.

Seems old school creating DVDs, but in my profession, I still create school plays on DVD, as that is what they ask for.

Thanks for your help.
