Hi there, If i porches a lifetime license, does that mean I don't have to pay for Vegas ever again ? Then why would someone pay for a yearly subscription if a lifetime option is possible, or am i missing something here ?
A perpetual licence means that if you buy a perpetual licence for Vegas Pro - currently version 22 - you can use that version forever. You will be entitled to get any updates for version 22 but you will not be entitled to get any later releases of Vegas Pro (e.g. VP23, VP24, VP25 etc). To get a later Vegas Pro version, you would have to purchase it for which you should be eligible for upgrade pricing.
With the subscription option, you'd get any new releases of Vegas Pro while the subscription is active, but if the subscription is cancelled, then there will be no further access to Vegas Pro at all. The option in that case would be to either to restart the subscription or to buy a perpetual licence.
As Dexcon previously explained - If you buy a perpetual version, which is presumably what you mean by "lifetime" then yes it is yours forever.
If you buy a subscription then your Vegas is only yours while your subscription is active as it expires with your subscription expiry. So if you take out a 12 month subscription and don't renew after 12 months then your Vegas expires.
Can I continue to use my installed software after my subscription ends?
After a subscription ends, you will not be able to continue using the software. You can of course buy the latest version at any time in the form of a perpetual license. However, this means you will not be able to avail of more recently released features or other benefits offered by the subscription model.
... and ...
What is the difference between buying the software and subscribing to the software?
With a subscription, you automatically receive all new features and access to additional content for the subscription fee. You are also entitled to technical support for the full period of your subscription. If, on the other hand, you purchase our software up-front in the form of a perpetual license, you can use the software version you purchased permanently.
It looks like the term 'perpetual license' is now referred to as 'lifetime'.
