I am trying to figure out how to do something.
Imagine a texture "wall" in the XY plane with a window/door in it that opens inward (away from the viewer in Z-direction). I am looking for a way to simulate a light positioned near the viewer, shining on the wall, such that when a window/door opens, it looks like it is going into a shadow (gets darker) as it goes away from the viewer.
I would like to do this as an overall effect if possible, since I really have multiple "windows" in this wall and I don't want to apply an effect to each one (I know how I would do it that way).
I have tried playing with fill light and other lighting effects on different tracks to no avail. If someone has done this, please advise how it was done and what track it needs to be done to.
I'm pretty sure AE does this, but I don't want to go there if I don't have to.
Thanks
