Lightning Up a Dark Shot...

I'm falling more and more in Love with VEGAS. Now with 4.0 I find myself doing projects in so much less time. I finally feel productive. I'm confident in my equipment and SonicFoundry software.

This past weekend I shot a Music Video...57 setups in 2 days. Now I'm only 6 hours(including capturing and logging) into Post and have the coolest rough edit w/ some effects in less time than ever. Basically I'm ahead of schedule by 1 week. This is unheard of.

I now find myself with time to spare so I'm gonna play around a bit with the project. I would like to 'lighten up' some of the shots that were not lit well during production. Some of the faces /scenes I would like to lighten a bit. Does anyone know a good way of doing this?

I had been playing with adding a glow to no evail. Should I actually be trying some color correction instead? Or am I stuck with what I got?

All help is appreciated.

use the Color correction FX .. try GAIN 1st ..if it lifts the whites too much then reset to normal ( double click on slider) ..then try GAMMA

you might need to add a little saturation ...

if you want to try to just lift face ..use 2ndary color correction ..use Select effect range eye dropper to sample a face ( then check the box SHOW mask ) play with the sliders till just the face is white ( if anything else is same color it too will be white)
then uncheck SHOW mask .. you can use gamma/gain to lighten darken ( it will only darken/lighten whatever was WHITE under show mask) ... you can also add just saturation to face or move the color wheel to change color ...

Well duh... I've been playing around with level/color correction for just a few thousand hours or so with Vegas. Every few days I discover something new. Its turning into an obsession. I can't stop. Help... help... I don't eat right, I don't sleep more than a couple hours.

Here's just a few things I've discovered, reaching around patting self on back.
