I did exactly what you did; bought a dual layer dvd drive with lightscribe expecting to be able to buy dual layer lightscribe disks. I can't find any. I spoke to HP recently and they said that they plan to produce such disks in the future, but they have no date certain. And I left a message with Verbatim, but haven't heard back. I hope someone manufactures these soon.

One reviewer said recently it takes up to 30 minutes to print the Lighscribe "label" on one disk, if you have a higher level of detail or text.

Is this really true?

From what I gather, Verbatim has no intention of ever making double layer lightscribe discs partly due to survey results which clearly showed that there exists widespread compatibility issues with using double layer discs 'out there'. And partly because they view it as an extremely small niche market not worth attacking.

My hp640e lightscribe drive takes EXACTLY 27.36 minutes to burn a full blown image on the surface.

Although I initially used the lightscribe feature quite a bit, I have since switched over to inkjet printing directly onto dvds using an Epson r340 printer.

I like having both options.
