Linking video and audio

Maybe I missed something in the preferences. I noticed when I move or trim a clip the changes only apply video or the synch audio but never does it to both of them, unless I do manually link video and audio.
Is there a way to have synched video and audio clips linked as kind of project preference?

turn off 'Ignore Event Grouping'

there is a button on the toolbar. the default is off... did you turn it on?

or perhaps your events aren't grouped in the first place. select both and hit G.
