If I could get off Windows I would. I run Vegas on XP, and going to build a quad core system.
Are the rumors true that Vista is 10-20% slower than XP?
Why would I want to spend $400 on a cpu chip and throw away 20%?

I hate Windows lock-in. I'm not looking forward to paying for Vista, and
working with it. But, I have no choice...

I want to run software (Vegas) not an operating system (Vista).
I don't care about the OS... since Linux apps have everything I need
[Inkscape, Gimp, Abiword, Traverso, K9Copy, Firefox, Scribus, etc]

I like XP, why didn't they stick with XP core, and just pretty up the GUI,
why do they have to have new drivers, new crap, new new new....

oh well Bill Gates has his monopoly.....

Maybe the Vegas developers are interested in a linux version,
under Qt this is possible to produce a single Qt app and deploy
to Mac OSX, Linux, Windows.....

Imagine the market share, Vegas competing with Final Cut Pro
on the mac..

Would love to reach out to Vegas to see if they are interested in
a linux version OR some wine compatibility....

Not looking forward to vista....
