Susan, what bitrate are you using when you save to .rm? You're probably using too low of a rate. For voice only, i usually use somewhere between 12 and 32Kbps depending on how much quality i want to give up to squish it into a small space. For music i usually use 24 to 48Kbps for the web, or 64 or higher for storing locally.

Where do I change this setting? I want to have the highest possible quality to be able to put this on the web. This will be an audition file, and later, used to store radio shows for people to hear.
Thanks,
Susan

Thanks so much. I found where to change the setting. But it only went to 32. However, that fixed the problem. You are always a great help! Susan

File / Make Movie / Write your movie to file on your disk / Advanced Render.
Change the Save as type to RealMedia (*.rm) and choose one of the audio Templates.
Your choices are 28Kbsp, 56Kbps, 64Kbps, and 100Kbps. 28 is probably ok for spoken voice only if you're only interested in hearing the words. 56 will be quite a bit better and should be usable for music. 100 will sound as good as FM radio, but keep in mind that people on dialup modems won't be able to stream it; they'd have to download it first then listen to it.
