Liteon Burner

I posted this in the DVDA forum, but so far no hits. This group gets more traffic, so thought I'd try here since I'm looking for a quick solution -- if only how to do it in Nero.

I've been using DVDA fine for a while. I got a new Sony Notebook and have been trying to set it up as a portable editing system. Seems DVDA 1.0c can't see my new burner.

Burner is a Liteon LDW411SX external USB2 connection. Device manager lists it, I can see it in Explorer, Nero 6 can see it, but when I try to burn in DVDA the list of burners is empty.

Is there anything I need or should look for?

In the mean time, does anyone know the steps to get Nero 6 to burn an existing DVD image? I have the directory from DVDA with Audio_TS and Video_TS in it. In a few minutes of playing with Nero, I haven't yet figured out how to point Nero at the existing image to burn a DVD.

I haven't used Nero for a while, but from memory it was a question of Selecting the device in Choose Recorder, then dragging the files across from the browser tio the burning window on the left - in this case, the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders.

I sometimes have trouble with my laptop finding an external DVD recorder (firewire), but leaving the external device switched on whilst re-booting solves it.

I just got a Lite-On internal burner at work today. Chances are it's basically the same drive that you have, just the internal version instead of external. I'll crank up DVD-A tomorrow when i get to the office and see if it recognizes the drive.

I've burned quite a few DVDs in Nero after authoring them in DVD-A. After selecting the DVD Video template in Nero it will automatically display Audio_TS and Video_TS folders in the compilation window. The Video_TS folder is in red indicating that it is required for this disc type. In the explorer window navigate to the directory that you used for DVD-A to prepare to. This will also contain Audio_TS and Video_TS folders. Open up the Video_TS folder from the prepare directory and drag all of it's contents to the Video_TS folder in the compilation window ... except for one file. Don't copy the default.pls file. DVD-A puts this file in the directory, but Nero will complain bitterly about it. I have no idea what this file is, but it's not necessary. In fact, even if i tell Nero to burn the disc with that file anyway, i've had several DVD players refuse to play the disc if it contained that file. Weird.

By image do you mean an image of a DVD thats finished or a DVD thats been authored in the two folders. ( vob files)
If its a true image file like an ISO or Bin Cue file or from any prog that creates true image file, then just go up to the menu and select recorders, then Burn Image. this will then open a window where you select your image file to burn. Just pull it in and select burn. It has to be one of these types of file.

Geez - When I am on a tight time schedule the whole PC world turns on me.

Thanks for the info about Nero but my results sucked big time. I selected "Make a DVD-Video". Copied all the files into Video_TS -- there wasn't the file such as you warned me about in the source. Clicked next, and huge crap started:

DVD-Video files reallocation started.
File size is not a multiple of logical block size (2KB)
DVD-Video files reallocation failed
DVD-Video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable.
Do you want to continue? -- UMMM, I Guess Not!

BOX with stupid message about printing or saving this crap with no choice like "just let me the **** out of here" option.

God preserve us from the new "simple" "user friendly" software.

Thanks for trying, but I guess when the PC demons are after me there is no way to succeed even with advice.

Sigh.
