Doing a search I see that uninstalling newblue might work. But I use newbluFX for V10, and V12 and I remember having a hard time installing it...so I don't want to uninstall it (newblue), in fearing that it may not work correctly after re-installing it.

So my question is:
Can I start up vegas 13 without any plugins?

Thanks

If you know where the offending plugin is located, and what its file name is, you could simply rename the file before opening the project. Then make any needed changes before saving it. Finally go back and restore the plugins file name.

I can't yet pinpoint where it cashes...I downloaded the latest V13, installed in trail mode and it crashes right after it says "Creating Windows"...which is the last step on the splash screen.

I'd target video drivers, first.

There is a way to load a Project and have Vegas ignore everything. But this is a drastic Nuclear option that should only be used if Vegas completely stops working for EVERY project.

Simply hold down the Control and Shift keys when you start Vegas. You'll be prompted if you want to restore Vegas to all default values. If you click Yes, Vegas will reset itself, and ignore third party PlugIns. This means reinstalling everything after you use this option.

Are you sure that is how the Vegas reset works? I thought it only resets any changes made to the parameters available on the Internal tab. I never had to reinstall my plug-ins after that.

Me neither.

Unless they changed it, this happened to me a few years ago with Vegas Pro v7. I did the Ctrl-Shift reset and all my Presets, Toolbar shortcuts and PlugIns were gone. I haven't tried it since because of that experience.

I don't think we had plugins with Version 7.

I don't know if the Ctrl-Shift option when starting Vegas will stop plug-ins from loading, but I don't think it will. As already pointed out, it resets ALL of your preferences, and this can take quite awhile to rebuild, so I wouldn't advise doing it.

Given that all the external (non-Sony) plug-ins are in the

C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 13.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins

folder, you might try renaming this folder (just add an "X" to the name, or something else that is simple) and then start Vegas. I'm not on my V13 computer, but I just tried this with V10 and it worked find.

Thanks everyone for their input.

I tried renaming the C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 13.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins folder, re-ran vegas 13 latest build in trial mode, and vegas still crashes right after the "creating windows" splash screen.

V10 & V12 works great...I can't use V13 at all...

Have you tried holding down CTRL+SHIFT and then launching Vegas 13? It will reset it to its initial stage.

Don't forget to reset that plug-in folder name back to the way it was before you do the reset.

Steve, I wasn't talking about Extensions. You're right, those appeared in SVP v8. I was talking about third party PlugIns; specifically a 32 text effect plugin that I got from the debugmode web site that is no longer available.

Gary, Oldsmoke...

I was afraid of trying the ctrl+shift, but at this point V13 was just crashing...so I tryied it with "nothing to lose"..and it worked!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!

do I need to re-install MagicBullet and newblue, since I no longer see it in my FX tab?

V10 and V12 I see the plugins, so I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall.

Thanks
