Hello, I posted several months ago about an issue with loading clips from a PCI firewire card connected to a Sony AG-1000 Mini DV player. The connection worked on my Win 7 PC for over ten years and suddenly stopped working. Through this same PCI card I also had connected a VCR with RCA plugs run through a Canopus ADVC 110 converter box to load clips. This also worked for several years and suddenly stopped working. The IE1394 device always shows up in the Device Manager as working properly, but the only thing it would ever see was my old Mini DV camcorder through firewire. I tried replacing the card, replacing the cable, setting up the card in another PC, and changing the Windows drivers from legacy to other choices and back again. I then took some suggestions from forum users (thanks for the help!) and tried two different clip loading tools (Win DV and ScenAnalyzer) and they did the exact same thing as the Sony clip loading utility.
I am looking for any suggestions...for the VCR I can use a newer analog to digital converter like the King MA or others, which write files directly to a flash drive. However, for the Mini DV player I cannot come up with an option that keeps the clips in digital form from the Sony deck to PC format. The Canopus box was desirable because it actually had a firewire "In" port (which I never used because I hooked the Sony player up directly to the PCI card), but I can't find an alternative. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
