Loading Clips with Vegas 12.0 problem

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 12 software with Windows 7. Haven't used system in several months and am suddenly having trouble with importing media through firewire. The Sony Capture program intermittently hangs up and sometimes doesn't recognize the device. Never had a single problem previously, and have not installed any new software, upgrades, or anything on this dedicated video PC. Any ideas short of reinstalling Vegas? It almost feels like the system is bogged down, but erasing temporary Windows files did not seem to help. Appreciate any insight you may have.

Change to the Legacy Firewire driver.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give that a try tonight and see if it works.

The system already was using the legacy driver for the fire wire card. If there are any other suggestions I’d greatly appreciate it.

Are you accessing a camera or a firewire capture device?

It is a DVR tape player. I have been using this device to capture video from using the Sony Vegas program for several years without issues until recently.

IF the Legacy driver is not working, I would try one of the regular Windows Drivers, or if you have a brand name card, see if they have a Windows 7 driver. Check to see what other programs are running (specifically 3rd party antivirus programs), these can hog resources. Otherwise, I am not sure what else to suggest.

I just thought of one more thing, check your Firewire Cable and connectors. Sometimes the connector gets corroded or broke and can cause connection issues.
