You need to install the codec for the format used by the camera. Same thing happens with digital camera files encoded using the MJPEG format. If you install the MJPEG codec, Vegas will put the video on the timeline. I think the same good thing will happen if you install an MPEG-4 codec.

Thank you. But how do I install a codec ?
I downloaded the mpeg4 codec but don't know where to put it so that Vegas can use it. Also once I put it some place, how do I, or do I need to tell Vegas where to look for it, such as do I need to install it somehow in Vegas

Just follow the installation instructions that should've come with the codec.
If it was an *.exe file, just double-click it.

Vegas should know it's there. You'll probably need to select the "Custom" tab (next to the "Template" dropdown box) after choosing MPEG (I'm guessing here as it's an mpeg 4 codec) in the "Save as type" dropdown menu.

I believe I have the same camera Casio Z750. I have Vegas 6c and I can't open the Casio's MP4 vid files. Vegas will open the audio track, but not video. I thought I saw somewhere where you have to convert the MP4 file using Auto Gordian Knot. If there is an easier way to open them, please help. Casio includes a downsized video software program to open them, but nothing near Vegas's capability.

Go to the Mainconcept site and download their MJPEG codec. The demo will give you the ability to decode the files.

john....thanks for the info, i've downloaded the demo mjpeg from mainconcept sight but no luck installing it, do you have a suggestion? ive installed other codecs successfully before, they seem to be self-installed for the most part.
