Lock Envelopes

I sometimes think I'm losing the plot. There are tons of stuff in Sony Vegas Pro that I don't even understand let alone use, yet sometimes one of my most basic wants doesn't seem to be there.

Of course I am probably missing something obvious and fundamental but I am blessed if I can see it.

OK, I have created volume envelopes in my tracks, adjusted them to suit.

Now, quite often, when I go back to edit on the timeline, I accidentaly grab the envelope and move it when I don't want to. All I'd like to do is lock the envelopes so they can't be disturbed, But, as far as I can tell, there does not seem to be a way of doing this. Seems pretty fundamental to me.

Anyone else like to do this too? What am I missing, please?

As far as I know you cannot lock envelopes. What you can do is make them invisible which does stop you moving them by accident.

How do you make a velocity envelope invisible Bob? My work around for this is to put anything I want to stay put on a separate track and lock the track. There's a great little script for locking/unlocking multiple tracks.

From the Help:

Hide envelopes

For more info search the online help with "hide"

You can Lock Events to Envelopes so that if you move your events, delete some, etc. that your envelope will be locked to the remaining events. There is an icon for it on the Taskbar.

Thanks. I think "hide envelopes" will do it in lieu of being able to lock 'em!
