Lock position during vertical moves?

I've searched the help files and this forum and can't find any reference to this, though I can't believe it hasn't come up before. I find that I have to be extremetly careful when moving audio clips up or down to different tracks, because they often slip horizontally as well as vertically. Is there a way to lock a clip's SMPTE position while making vertical movements? TIA

Use the Numeric Keys "8"(up) and "2"(down). This moves the event up and down, without changing it's timeline position.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I assumed it would be a mouse/key combination if it existed at all. Never thought to look through the dedicated key commands list.
