Graham, use the Plugin Pac 3d LE and use the Rotate Y thet makes the picture spin in the vertical plane.
I trust this is what you are after( the pugin is in the Video FX)

Try this:

Add a overlay text track. Type your name. Drop on the Plug in pack.
set a key frame. set a last key frame, set Z as 360. Your name will roate one full revolution over the time between the keyframes. In this example I spanned 3 seconds. You could change the scale X value in the last key frame and have the text grown or shrink as it turns around.

Hiya. In a word slow. The other day looking in a mirror I managed to move the left side of my mouth a little bit and scared myself. LOL!

. . . BB, you still look beautiful Man, nah worries mate! . . . shame we can't apply the rotation thingy I'm looking for to our own bodies - eh? - Keep yer spirits up! Been reading your thread on PS pros/cons . . . I'm still getting frustrated with actually learning PsP . . . I keep reverting to the old MS Photodraw programme . . very GUI and very intuitive . . guess what? Mr. B Gates has discontinued it! - Madness! - Anyway, apart from keeping my patience with PsP is there any clear understandings about how I get on with it? - Your opinions sought . .

Grazie, I've always preferred Paint Shop Pro to Photoshop - it does almost everything the expensive one does but easier IMO, one exception being rotoscoping ..

Anyway, describe one or more operations you're having problems with and we'll try and help - I know there are many Vegas/PSP people around !

Pete, you BEAUTY!!

I'm having a generic problem in getting my head around the whole package. This is odd. The best thing about V4 is that totally starting position where you are presented with a Zen-like grey sheet of paper. Kellsie was a big help here, he just said throw a clip onto the area and all the other stuff, headers etc etc, will be created. Now this is love. But with PsP, its the way around layers and and creating more layers, and managing the views to the Layer management functioning . . . I just throw my hands up in the air and give up and return to MS Photodraw . . .

I read the PsP7 Manuals and have got somewhere in following the layering . . . . but once I've left it . . . and then return its all gone from my lil brain . . gone out of the window! Something lacking in me . . . must be . . .

Maybe this aint the place to communicate . . it is the V4 forum after all . . .

I'm prepared to persist . . .but it's a bit grim at the moment.

Sorry to be a numbnutz with this, but . . . dunno . . . .

I tried doing a "writing" text that would fill as the clip worked. I realise that one needs the vector density now available in PsP8, so I got somewhere with it.

Dunno if this is any help, but here’s some notes about how I’ve been working with layers in PSP7:

First, the basics – treat layers like a set of overhead transparencies stacked on top of each other, much the same as Tracks in Vegas. You can move a particular layer up or down (Layers > Arrange), view it on its own, or work on it while you view the whole stack.(Layers > View) Always give each layer a meaningful name, so you know what’s what. New layers are added by Layers > New ….

Layered images can be saved with separate layers intact as either .psp files or .psd.
They can also be merged or “flattened” to a single layer, as almost any graphic format.
(Although a lauded feature of Premiere Pro is the ability to import .psd layers into separate tracks, you can do this with Vegas and PSP by saving each layer as a separate .png graphic with Alpha preserved for transparency.

Anyway – this may be too basic for what you want – if so, ask me another … you gotta start somewhere …

I'll happily continue by email if you like Grazie - I've got your address, but as I'm far from being the ultimate authority on PSP, I though an OT thread on this 'ere forum might allow some even more knowledgeable folk to chip in ...

If so, maybe a new thread "OT - PSP tips requested " or simliar?

I promise you Pete . . I'm talking reeeeallly basic . . lets see how far we can get with an open email session first . .then we could take your suggestion back here - yeah?

Once we get going, you'll see how basic I mean - honest!

I've got 2 guys coming around now for the next 3 hours . . . you in Oz? Maybe you are going into night time soon . . Wednesday, tomorrow is good for me . . but let's do the email thang! Yeah?

Grazie... I can't tell ya how many times I picked up the PSP box in the store only to put it down again. I really know next to nothing about it. I always was going to try it and never have. Like others said it really is a nice clone of Photoshop. It doesn't do everything Photoshop does, (or so I've heard) but it does do a lot of it.

If I were just starting out I probably would pick it over Photoshop. However since I've had Photoshop for (guessing) 15 years or so, kind of silly to jump ship now which I guess is why I always put the PSP box back on the shelf.

I once found a web site that had a extensive list of what each does and doesn't do. Can't find it now. Anyone know of such a site?

Grazie,

PSP 8 is a big improvement over 7 - may make it easier to work with the interface and way of working has been improved.
