Locked Bundled FX

I've posted this elsewhere but think the general principle is so important that we need a new thread.

I already own New Blue Video FX 6 but the fact that the bundled version is locked to VP13 needs to be sorted out now. Many people are upgrading to VP13 because of the bundled software so it needs to be made really clear which bundled software is locked to a single version of Vegas. Does that mean iZotope Nectar won't work in VP14 too?

It's a real PITA having to switch versions just because one bundled FX in a project will only work in a single version of Vegas. I have never come across this marketing practice in all the years I've been video and audio editing. What if the user wants to re-edit a project in the latest version of Vegas? This means we have to keep multiple versions of Vegas installed just because of these ridiculously restrictive and undisclosed 3rd party deals. What kind of solution is in place now for all NB VFX 6 users in the future? 3rd party developers, including NB, and Sony need to put their heads together and fix this problem. It's creating great ill will in the Vegas community.

NewBlue has some potentially good software but its lack of management expertise and common sense leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, the version debacle where NB fought back on this forum over putting version numbers on its software because we, the customer, didn't understand how difficult that was. Or, the infamous instability of the titler software in which NB tried to blame Vegas rather than accept and fix their own problems.

I bought version 2 of the titler and when I loaded a previous project in Vegas 13 the titles had NB watermarking.

I will not purchase any more NB software since I cannot be assured that it will work in future versions of Vegas. Its just not worth the effort... plenty of other good software out there.

Adios NB!

It already has been delt with. See what a founder of NewBlue says in this recent thread.

That never happened with me. V2 was never bundled and was a stand alone license. All my NewBlue stuff just showed up in VP13 without me doing anything with installs and the output was not watermarked.

Ok, thanks that resolves any confusion. Video FX 6 will continue to work in future versions of Vegas. With all the different threads and posts I'd lost track of what had been eventually decided. Perhaps all this confusion could have been avoided if this decision and information had been made clear when VP13 was released. I really hope in the future that Sony bundles 3rd party FX that aren't locked to a single version.

Well, at the time of release VE6 was going to be locked to the version of Vegas it came with. The loss of Titler Pro 1 made people ask about VE6 licensing. Public outcry caused NewBlue to change the terms for VE6.

For me I already own VE6 and had upgraded to TP2 so these issues did not bite me.
