SO if I want to add a small logo to my DVD covers that indicate it was edited in Vegas and / or prepared in DVD-A, are there any standard logos available that SONY allows for such use?
I remade the logo in Corel Draw (the font is Myriad Pro, with some tighter letter spacing). I made some EPS versions of the Vegas 6 logo, but I'm not sure whether it would be ok to post a link here. Silly thing is, it looks like Sony themselves use a raster version on their PDFs. Most corporations want their logos printed as crisp as possible, so their PDFs use a vector version of the logo. Maybe they do this to prevent us from getting a nice vector version?
Always such a game trying to help promote something we love. Of course, they don't want to give the logo to everyone, for fear people use it to mock or hurt the product. I say all publicity is good, especially if it's free. I may use the logo in the credits of the DVD I'm producing for national release. Will I bother to ask Sony? Maybe. Something tells me it'll be a bunch of unneccessary red tape.
they have logos for people. however, you need to ask permission to use it as it's their logo. so, if you ask & they say yes, they'll give you (or tell you) where to get the logos.
Just text:
"Proudly edited on Apple Mac Dual 2.0 GHz G5 with Apple Final Cut Pro 5.0.36 on Apple OS X 10.3.2"
I have seen it many times at film festivals...
It would be a relief (and a joy) to see a simple "Edited with Sony Vegas".
(no need to get into the contribution from SP2 and the timing of the DDR2 RAM :O)
P.S. I don't think anybody can prevent you from stating a fact, that's just 1st Amendment. Logo would technically need approval in this particular case though, although I think a gift basket is more likely than a suit from Sony...
One better, Sony should sponsor a film festival for projects edited solely on Vegas. No need for logos and finally some decent exposure for their NLE. Sorry, kind of off topic but fitting nonetheless if that makes any sense.
Sony does sponsor a very large film festival, this year they're using it to push HDV. And guess what the local Sony lad was editing the promo on, lets just say he seemed quite oblivious about Vegas.
