Are you saying you're looking for a camcorder that won't record any sound or are you saying you're looking for a camcorder with a microphone input?

a mic input would be good, because then I can also connect it to the sound system so the sound is directly to the camera.

Unfortunately, those are getting harder and harder to come by in consumer camcorders. For some reason, camcorder manufacturers have it in their head that we don't want them anymore! (The same thing is happening with laptops and FireWire inputs.)

Well if you already have an HD camcorder you may be able to do it at less cost than a new camcorder.

Invest in a quality digital audio recorder. Connect THAT to your sound board and then, when editing, sync the sound to the soundtrack of your tape. You then mute the tape sound and use the digital recorder sound.

If you've never tried it before .. the concept of syncing up an externally recorded audio track to a camcorder track sounds hard .. but it isn't really.

You can get something quality for around $200 US (or more .. or less)
