Looking for Pointing Devices for Video Editing

I'm currently using a standard mouse (for the why see below) and looking for a more sensitive set up for a pointer device to use for video editing (I'm having trouble dragging ends of clips to exact points and would prefer to use a pointing device/touchpad to do it. Will use the keyboard command until I find a way..) -- looking for recommendations?....not too large a set up and I don't do any fancy stuff these days -- just basic editing with dissolves, supers, etc. It also may be the combination of the mouse and pad that makes it too stiff so if there are pads that increase fine movement...? For everything else I do this mouse is fine --

(I used laptops for the past 20 years for video editing and for all that time a touchpad -- which was perfect for fine movement. Ironically only now am I getting back to using a desktop -- and finding myself frustrated by lack of fine movement capability with a mouse. I I have a finite amount of space -- small desk -- maybe four inches across available.....)

Thanks!

I use a Kensington Expert Trackball on all of my machines, plus I carry one with me when I work on other systems outside the office. I end up using it by rolling several fingers over the ball and then use my fingertips for fine movement. It has a scroll ring around the trackball, so scrolling is amazingly easy. The large ball has some mass and I've gotten so used to it that I can flick the ball across my dual monitor screens with amazing accuracy. It's easier and more intuitive than it is to explain. They're a bit on the expensive side but in my opinion, worth every penny.

First the free option: For more accuracy have you tried to change (slow down) the mouse speed in the Control Panel, Mouse, Pointer Option Tab?

If this doen't work for you, You can also purchase a decent gaming mouse between $20-$30.
I have this Gigabyte mouse which has a dpi switching button on the top of the mouse which can change the dpi "speed" on the fly.

I also just purchased a cheap Logitech G300s gaming mouse because it was onsale at my local B&B BestBuy for $18.00. The LOD (Lift off Distance) is lower than the Gigabyte. You can program 3 different dpi settings via software.

I primarily use the Logitech trackball 99% of the time but use the mouse when I need a little more accuracy.
