I am working with some SLog3 footage that I have been colour grading. Applying a LUT and working with the colour wheels make the footage look really good. The footage is a community theater show and uses LED lights a lot. In a couple of places the Blue and Green in particular blow out with the LUT and grading applied and I want to drop the Offset and Gamma briefly in several places in the video. As it is not possible to animate the colour grading I may have to go back and use the traditional key-frameable effects or splitting and cross-fading.
I wanted to confirm my understanding that the equivalent to the colour wheel in the grading panel is the Color Corrector and that the RL Color Wheels is the same as the Secondary Color Corrector - it seems to be when I try it, but I am also unsure if the Grading is doing anything else behind the scenes when using the wheels. it seems all the controls in the grading panel are also available in the Color Corrector effect.
I have read suggestions about splitting events and using cross fades, and I am also experimenting with that, but I am also looking at using keyframes but I would be interested in any observations from people who have tried one way or the other.
Thank you.
