loop bug?

JHendrix wrote on 8/7/2006, 5:43 PM
why is Vegas not looping?

set loop reigon
in loop playback mode

VV stops at end of loop reigon (when it does , audio meters freeze untill stop is pressed)

or it will ignore end point and keep playing

its doing it in a section of the timeline where I have several tracks and a couple using parent motion. indicationg VV is somehow choking at the loop point. never had this problem before even with more intensive passages.

Is your loop region dark blue? If not, it will play once and stop. Select the region and hit "Q" on the keyboard.
JHendrix wrote on 8/7/2006, 11:12 PM
yes, this is with it being blue

JH, not happening here, but I have no idea what your project contains.

Does this happen in any way with other projects? By the sound of it, it doesn't and it appears to be an anomaly to do with this particular project - as you say, "never had this problem before even with more intensive passages". Although not ruling out an issue with Vegas, just try copying the project and renaming it and see if you get the same result. I've had very VERY issues with Vegas that I've needed to copy and rename. Often it was solely THAT particular project that was presenting a particular issue.

i will try it

its bizzare, i can loop all the way to about 51:18:00 at which time it stops working.
JHendrix wrote on 8/7/2006, 11:48 PM
nope, copied and renamed and loop stops working at same point

actually its 51:18:00 AFTER 24 hours....this is a loooooong project

i never realized before that VV only went to 24 hours becasue i have never had a project this long.
Grazie wrote on 8/7/2006, 11:54 PM
OK! You have a timeline that is 51 hours long? Fine . .

JH, you may have something there, I wouldn't know. Maybe others who have such a "distance" will chime in. Is there a default UPPER limit that can be reset by us users? Dunno. And more to the point, is this in ANY way related to your "Loopy-looper"? Maybe it just got tired!
JHendrix wrote on 8/8/2006, 12:15 AM
it is odd for sure

actually it loops at 00:51:18.14 and stops looping at 00:51:18.15

both numbers being in the "2nd" 24 hours.

So really, the session is more like 32 hours where it goes to 24 hours exactly then the next frame is 00:00:00:00 and it stops looping at 51:18.14.

what the heck, hey Sony....is there anyhing to the 24 hour theory?
what are the limitations in VV in longer projects?
johnmeyer wrote on 8/8/2006, 10:00 PM
My guess is that you've hit a boundary. Send Sony support an email (use link at top of this page).

i guess i have to, dont see them to much around here anymore...

just odd that it would not be published

"...just odd that it would not be published..."

Why?

Who could have ever imagined someone with a bideo over 24-hours long?

JHendrix wrote on 8/12/2006, 10:05 PM
not me, untill i realized it was way more efficinat to bring all my footage into one timeline for primary cuts....
Grazie wrote on 8/12/2006, 10:55 PM
Way more efficient? JH? At what point would you say it would start to become less efficient? 100 hours, 1,000 hours 6 months worth? All on the timeline at once?

More to the point, it is only as efficient as the person wants to make it. I guess Sony, and I/we don't know this for sure yet, "appear" to have made an UPPER limit for the timeline.

Truthfully? Yes I could maybe see the argument for 50 hours on a timeline - almost. But I find having subsets of footage from day or half day work is just about all I can mentally deal with.

This is where Media Manager can and did for me come in real handy. Being able to view whole massive collections of clips that I had grouped and slapped into TAGS was a total breeze. Media Manager just scooped them up and laid 'em out for me. Easy.

Let's say you got 6 x 10 second takes per minute ( I know a bit liberal but stay with me on this) - yeah? That's like 360 per hour - yeah? That's like 18,000 for your 50 hours? So maybe you got less? Let's half, say 9,000 - yeah? How on earth are you going to critically do a rough cut and NOT "throw out the baby with the bath water"? I'd be concerned that I hadn't "seen" everything and had made good enough critical judgements. Going backwards and forwards and so on?

No, JH, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced this job could be sent to Media Manager, so I could review and group under "Tags".

But of course, it is your call.
